SPlit: A must see !

Hello dear movie fans friend ! Here's my little recommendation of the week : I'm going to present you one of my favourite films that that I discovered two years ago (and I've been watching it quite a bit ever since). "Split" (2016) is a movie directed by M. Night Shyamalan with the very talented James Mc Avoy as the main actor, along with Anya Taylor-Joy and Betty Buckley. This film is a sequel to "Unbreakable" (2000), by the same director, starring Bruce Willis.

The synopsis : Kevin Wendell Crumb, suffers from dissociative identity disorder. During his sessions with his psychologist, Kévin has already manisfested 23 different personalities, but one remains immersed trying to dominate the others. Pushed to kidnap 3 teenage girls, including Casey, an intelligent and determined young girl, it is then the beginning of a war between the different personalities and the beginning of chaos in Kevin's subconscious...

I reassure you right away it is not necessary to have seen "Unbreakable" to watch this one. It doesn't interfere with the understanding of the story at all. "Split", is both touching and frightening at the same time. The accuracy of James McAvoy's acting is perfect and impressive. You can tell which personality is in front of the camera by the way he stands and looks. The mystery of where teenage girls are held adds a dose of frustration. One quickly becomes attached to the three teenage girls and the psychologist, one is afraid for them, the scenes taking place almost all the time in camera, the tension due to the constant proximity between them and Kévin can be felt through the screen. But, even if he is the "villain" of the story, the character of Kévin is endearing: this tortured man, who leads a fight against himself. We will also discover a story within the story, with one of the teenage girls, but I won't say any more, I wouldn't want to reveal everything ...

In short, a psychological thriller that keeps you on the edge of your seat from beginning to end and from which you will not come out unscathed.

Hello Laetitia, hello Manon !

Girls, you did a great job! You created a lovely blog, in which I felt immediately at home, and you introduced me to an amazing film, namely “Split”. By the way, I had already watched your other recommendation “The Revenant” some months ago, and I liked it, but “Split” made yesterday evening (it’s a fresh comment, as you can see !) such a strong and deep impression on me! I like Shyamalan’s universe in general, but some of his achievements “The Sixth Sense”, “Lady in the Water”, and, probably above all, his series “Woodward Pines” are all among my most memorable cinematographic experiences!

The first thing I would like to underline, even if it’s certainly…

Split is my favorite film of this trilogy. As you wrote, "both touching and frightening at the same time". The main character is both antipathetic and appealing according the personality in charge. Moreover, James McAvoy acting performance is, in my opinion, just perfect. Shyamalan realized with Split a must see!

Hey, I really like your blog, I find it very interesting.

In addition, your post on this film reminded me a lot of memories since I saw it a long time ago. So I agree with you, James McAvoy's acting is quite remarkable. I was very surprised to see his ability to be able to change his personality so quickly and without any difficulty. I remember that this film was both exciting and very scary. He made a big impression on me and is currently one of my favorite films besides your post made me want to see it again thank you for that. Good job.
